Shandy Chen, Caregiver

Shandy and her husband, Alex, are caregivers to their son, Raniel, who had experienced a traumatic brain injury.

Before Raniel's accident, Christmas for Shandy, Alex, and their children was a symphony of laughter, shared meals, and familiar traditions — a tight-knit family celebrating together.

Now, holidays look different. The family unit that once gathered around one table now finds celebration in smaller, quieter ways. The strain that followed Raniel's injury reshaped their traditions, but not their love.

Shandy and Alex have carved out their own pockets of joy. They go out with friends. They sing karaoke — Shandy, once a professional singer with a known voice, still finds music to be medicine. They've learned to celebrate not as they "should," but as they can.

It's not the Christmas of before. But in their marriage, in their friendships, in shared songs and small outings, they've found a new kind of happiness — one forged in resilience, held by faith, and strengthened by the support they found through Mindfull Community's Caregivers-to-Caregivers education programme.

Their holiday lights might shine differently now, but they still shine.

Now, Shandy opens her home to you. Step into her world, explore her spaces, discover her memories, and witness the quiet strength of a caregiver's love.
